1 stars (Only ever telling HALF the truth) - I am always shocked by non-Muslim writers when they write about Islam with such biased and present it as the truth! If you are going to discuss a topic academically do so critically, presenting all the information so people can make-up their own minds. I agree to a certain extent with the other reviewer (Zaid) when he says `The myth of Muslim tolerance' however I am a person who would not even like to label it under such a general title. I would prefer `The Myth of (the particular ruler of the period) tolerance', which is being far more honest. Are there no records of oppressive `MEN' throughout history in any country or in any religion? Or is this someone, having seen a market, just trying to make a buck by selling a book? Surely we have enough hate in the world! Here is a quote from the Koran. It is crystal clear. "Allah does NOT forbid you to deal JUSTLY and KINDLY with those who did NOT fight against you on account of your religion and did NOT drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah LOVES those who deal with fairness (Surah 60: Verse 8)' Just as in the Bible - in the Koran there are verses that state - an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth etc. In other words you can give as good as you get, but it clearly states you cannot go beyond that and there is a clause! - if you forgive, forget and treat your offender with gentleness and kindness you get a far greater reward from Allah! How can this be a religion of violence? I advise people to not rely on books written about Islam, but instead pick up the Koran and read it - make up your own mind - don't let others do it for you. You owe it to yourself not to have your thinking molded by someone else. I rated it one star - nice picture on the cover. 1 stars (People with little background....) - I am quite alarmed by both this book as well as the reviews it has received. 5 stars (Review of Law in Medicine) - Pozgar's book is organized by legal topic and cites relevant case law in all instances. It is an excellent overview of American law as it applies to the health care practitioner or organization. He has taken a topic that it difficult to communicate and made it very enjoyable reading. Students will find it much easier reading than most graduate level texts. 4 stars (Great information for those new to health care law.) - This book was very useful to me. I am a health information management student planning to enter a graduate health administration program. I took the class and this particular book was the text. Our instructor is a lawyer and runs risk management at our university hospital. The text further explained basic legal priciples and related them to health care. The text is easy to read and gives several references to actual documents. ... 5 stars (Icing on the cake) - This is an entertaining book with good insights on taking law school exams (I particularly liked Fischl & Paul's hilarious debunking of that stupid old IRAC bromide that professors like to give to all those foolish 1Ls). But some Amazon reviewers seem to think that Getting To Maybe is some sort of magic cure-all. It ain't. Unless you have spent a year or two perfecting your writing and analytical skills through continual practice, merely perusing this book will do nothing for you come exam time. If, however, you are already well versed in basic lawyerly analysis, this book will give you an edge. Here's what you need to do in order to score well on a law exam: 1. Extricate the key facts from a fact-dense problem. (Watch out for red herrings!) 2. Spot and specify all legal issues that arise from these key facts. 3. Intelligently apply all applicable legal rules to the issues. 4. Interweave key facts into elements of the applicable rules. 5. Insert appropriate policy discussions that support the rules. (Take notes and study up on each prof's particular hobby horse and demonstrate extensive familiarity with it on your essay exams.) 6. Integrate ALL of the above skills with succinct, first-draft legal writing skills within the allotted time (usually about 50 minutes per problem). Think fast, write fast--and do both well. Getting To Maybe is particularly good at developing point number 5. It is somewhat spotty at most of the others. But what it does, it does very well indeed. And, as far as law-related books go, it's a fun and funny read. So, after you have mastered the basics of black-letter law and learned to think clearly and write well, what this book has to teach you will be yet another arrow in your quiver. Just don't think it's your entire arsenal. Further recommendations: Pre-law and 1L students should read all the books in the Examples & Explanations series and carefully work through ALL the problems. The single most useful...
